Howl

FIVE actors have joined the cast of the new biopic HOWL. David Strathairn, Alan Alda, Jeff Daniels, Mary-Louise Parker and Paul Rudd are all in the cast for the film, which is being written, produced and directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman.

The film revolves around the obscenity trial launched to censor Allen Ginsberg's groundbreaking book-length poem, according to the trade The Hollywood Reporter. The pair were approached by the Allen Ginsberg Trust to make a film commemorating the 50th anniversary of "Howl."

James Franco is lined up to play Ginsberg.

David Strathairn will play prosecuting attorney Ralph McIntosh, Alan Alda will play Judge Clayton Horn, Jeff Daniels will play prosecution witness Professor David Kirk, Mary-Louise Parker will play radio personality and prosecution witness Gail Potter while Paul Rudd will play literary critic and defense witness Luther Nichols.
